Anticipation ('70s hit, Carlie Simon)

Hello Grafted In Readers,

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2026 in my corner of blog land. My front lawn is a massive puddle of melting snow that has been in this form for three+ days now. The walk itself and the rest of the lawn is practically snow-free! Someone claimed they saw a robin last week. The geese are dating and prepping to mate, or so it seems. March may be more spring-like than previous here. May it be so!

To Sacramental Christians, tomorrow begins your observance of the church period known as Lent.

It has an interesting history, especially with the 'kick-off day' for Lent known as Ash Wednesday.

I found this brief snippet on a website called Anglican Compass.

Lent is a season of repentance, fasting, and self-reflection.

For those of us more slanted toward a Jewish spirituality, Lent seems to be much like the month leading to the Fall holidays known as Elul, late summer. If you observe a period of reflection, repentance, and prayer, may your season be refreshing, renewingh, and well worth your time!

Reading:  My wife and I just completed reading the novel, Brain Damaged, by Freida McFaddin. In fact, we spent three hours last evening finishing this entertaining title. Now, about to embark on a nonfiction title about that great ship, The Edmond Fitzgerald, in a title, The Gales Of November.

Writing:  Thanks to you who have expressed interest in my recent book release, From My Red Chair: A Short Story Collection.

for further information. This is the link and Universal Book Link for this given title.

I am now working on a chapbook of three modernized fairy tales.

Notice:  National Reading Month begins on Sunday, March 1st this year in North America. I invite you to consider any of my titles as a candidate if you plan to observe this month. There are many great titles out here and something to definitely meet your entertainment or information needs.

Thank you also to those who have visited "my Substack" on occasion.
